1987-2020

Through the generous support of donors and the community, more than $6.5 million in funds have supported projects that enhance or expand services to abused, neglected, and at-risk children, vulnerable adults and families served by Harris County Resources for Children and Adults. The following are some of the projects, initiatives and programs that have benefited since the inception of the Foundation.

  • Caring for Kids Campaign – Capital Campaign for the construction of the new Harris County Youth Service Center. The newly constructed facility is a 24-hour hub serving at-risk youth, families in crisis, and abuse/neglected children in Harris County.
  • Seed money to launch The Children’s Assessment Center, an agency providing a safe haven to sexually abused children in Harris County.
  • Funding support for development and implementation of the Children’s Crisis Care Center Pilot Program, now known as Integrated Health Services, providing assessments to children in the foster care system.
  • Initial support for the TRIAD Justice of the Peace Court Liaison Pilot Program (in Baytown)
  • Chimney Rock Center Emergency Shelter Library now located in the Kinder Emergency Shelter at the Youth Services Center
  • HCPS Enhancing and Sustaining Campaign to support HAY Center, TRIAD, & Guardianship Program.
  • Upgrades for the front lobby of the Harris County Protective Services (HCPS) Murworth facility.
  • Financial support for relocation of the HAY Center, a program that provides services to current and former foster youth.
  • System of Hope Youth Mentoring Program
  • Development of the Children’s Mental Health Plan by the Joint City/County Commission on Children.
  • Renovation of Spindletop House for the operation of Exceptional Care Program at Chimney Rock Center.
  • Flexible spending funds to support seriously mentally ill children and their families (Systems of Hope)
  • Support for BEAR…Be A Resource for CPS Kids Program, a program providing for the needs of abused and neglected children served by CPS in Harris County.
  • Kinder Emergency Shelter Remodeling and upgrades
  • Upgrade to the 24-hour Youth Services Center, a 24-hour center providing services to at-risk youth and families in crisis.
  • Support to various Harris County Resources for Children and Adults’ programs: summer camp for youth, YSC Open House; extended family therapy groups for families served by Integrated Health Services (formerly Children’s Services); construction for screening room for at-risk seniors served by Adult Services Division; funds to host Texas Guardianship Association conference in Houston.
  • 50th Anniversary fundraising luncheon benefiting clients of Harris County Resources for Children and Adults.
  • Hearts of Hope luncheon benefiting at-risk youth served by Harris County Resources for Children and Adults.
  • COVID-19 Relief fund for Harris County families and clients of Harris County Resources for Children and Adults.
